The current ‘To Do’ list for Neighbourhood Diaries extend only over the next three months. It will obviously grow and cover the rest of the period through which the project will function. Kalam has always worked in an organic manner, and its approach to ND, which is a new pilot project for us, will be similar. We will learn as we take the steps one at a time. Hence, the blueprint of the project will also keep evolving.
August 2007
• Employ new Project Coordinator who will look specifically into the implementation of ND in close collaboration with Bishan, Sahar and Aparna
• Select partner organizations in chosen neighbourhoods and sign MoUs with them
• Create a separate bank account for Rising Voices funds. This maintains clarity in terms of financial management.
• Identify resource people/consultants who can help develop curriculum and perhaps implement parts of it in the selected neighbourhoods
• Meet with resource people/consultants to thrash out the curriculum for weekly workshops with youth
September 2007
• Research evaluation procedures. Develop a matrix to measure impact of project on: Participating youth, Neighbourhood population/Community, Partner Organization and Blogosphere
• Complete work on curriculum. Ready toolkit for workshops, complete with necessary props.
• Chart out exact dates for workshops
• Purchase stationery/ workshop materials
• Purchase Computers, Cameras, Audio Recorders and related hardware
October 2007
• Have face-to-face interaction with selected group of youth from chosen neighbourhoods who would participate in the weekly workshops, introducing to them the idea of ND and attracting them, convincing them to be a part of the project
• Speak with members of the community in these neighbourhoods, presenting the idea and the import of ND
• Set up computer centres in the neighbourhoods with help from partner organizations based in the communities.
