Day 1 Programming Es

  • Selection workshop: Why blog? Discuss citizen media impact. What each prospective participant could bring to the team, what they are passionate about.

  • Teach blogging basics: reading blogs, commenting and opening a blog. This was left for following saturday.
  • Record podcast on metrocable* While recording on the way up, Metrocable officials told us we needed to request permission to record . We will request it this week.
  • Select 10-15 bloggers from the group to receive new media training 7 participants showed up, others confirmed but they weren´t able to show up on this weekend, but said they will go next saturday.
  • August 25

     

    Day 2 Programming Es

    • Selection workshop: continuation of previous week´s process.

    • Teach blogging basics: reading blogs, we need to give them the links to blogs and blog communities, commenting and opening a blog. participants also learned how to add hiperlinks and pictures to their pages.
  • Select 10-15 bloggers from the group to receive new media training Since we didn´t get 30 participants on either day, we will work with all those who showed up, and some who mentioned they wanted to go next Saturday.
  • Between August 26 and 29

    • Notify those awarded with the new media scholarship.

    Day 3 Programming ES

    • Individual work on blog
    • Networking: Opening and using Googlereader for feeds, include Medallo Bloguero hiperbarrio feed on their blogs. The slow internet connection made it hard for us to get things done, we werent able to work with feeds.

    • Local visit: go with group to explore the neighborhood and have participants take pictures to upload. pictures are up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/hiperbarrio/
    • How to upload images from a camera. Each participant opens a flickr account. Participants have been added as family in hiperbarrio flickr account

  • Come up with Topic of the week: group decided on "My experience in HiperBarrio"
  • Homework: Definition of project objectives, for the group and individually. Write an individual contract committing themselves to assist to training and participate in discussions by posting and writing on a blog at least twice a month.
  • Homework: write and upload an article with images on the topic of the week. (if no topic is chosen by group: What is HiperBarrio for me?)
  • September 15 (Lina María Gallo will visit)

    Day 4 Programming [ES]

    • Definition of group project objectives. Discuss contracts from homework. Create compromise between the group and the project, and guaranteeing a constant production of new media material.
    • RSS, reading and commenting blogs, blogroll and blog aggregators or metablogs
    • Video: Expressing oneself through moving images. Editing before shooting.
    • -Uploading and handling video online: where to post and how- This will be left for a later date
    • Individual work on blogs, exploring the blogosphere and flickr.

  • homework: Write and image capture: Which are my favorite types of blogs and why? give Examples
  • -suggested: 3 minute video creation and shooting under pressure: 1 hour activity -This will be postponed, participants seem overwhelmed with the content we have seen so far.

  • September 29

    • Reviewing: Writing good posts, having good blogs.
    • Short writing workshop
    • Suggest following week´s topic of the week.

  • Write and use own photo: Myself and my barrio.
  • October 13

    • creation of virtual and online gallery, for images and video. Best texts chosen for first newsletter to be uploaded before pop!tech, group decides how newsletter will be handled and choose who will coordinate it´s publication.

    October 17-20

    • First newsletter comes together
    • Pop!Tech conference, Juliana blogs from there, workshop bloggers comment and participate in conversation.

    October 27

    • Reviewing PopTech and HiperBarrio:Sto Domingo project. Where we are, where we wish to be. Feelings, thoughts and ideas on how to proceed for the 2nd half of the workshop. Each participant selects their best work to showcase in OpenHouse
    • OpenHouse organization.

    • OpenHouse with the rest of the community and La Loma participants if possible.

    • Discussion of results, satisfaction levels, arrange following actions after workshop, volunteers for assisting in following workshop, Discussion and decision making regarding the future of the blog workshop in Santo domingo: if someone is willing to take over the workshop and start a new group, or if there´s interest in organizing monthly StoDomingo blogger meetings at the library to share new knowledge and have additional workshops on topics that interest them.

    Closing event, graduation in Santo Domingo, art gallery with photographs, video projection and reading of best articles. Awards given.

    March

    Postmortem activities. Organizing past participants

     

    Enero: Hablar con andrea apenas se pueda para ver en cuales bibliotecas estaremos trabajando. ESto lo har{iamos la pr{oxima semana q ella regresa al trabajo. Definir las bibliotecas y las zonas que cubriremos, y pedir el uso de las salas "mi barrio" para comenzar a trabajar ahí.

     

    Febrero: (yo no estaré) Hacer campaña de publicidad para los talleres en cada biblioteca, poniendo afiches. Un punto importante:contactar organizaciones comunales de cada zona y dar el taller a un grupo de un grupo aledaño a la zona.

    Se buscan radios comunitarias o peri{odicos comunitarios donde se pueda promover el taller.

     

    Marzo: llego con la XO OLPC y hacemos un circuito de las bibliotecas donde estaremos trabajando y con una mesa y el computador, a mostrar lo que ya hemos hecho, repartir los folletos de medios ciudadanos en español y ahí podemos captar público extra para cualquier ade los talleres. La idea es repartir volantes con la direcci{on url y con las fechas en cada biblioteca donde estaremos dando taller, y un n{umero de telefono o email para q reserven cupo, y chicanear con el computador.

    A mediados de marzo iniciamos talleres, arrancamos con un concurso de mejor blog: el q tenga más visitas, mas comentarios, más artículos y el que sea más popular ganará una cámara.

     

    Junio: finaliza (o antes) el concurso

     

    Julio vacaciones

     

    Agosto: inicia concurso-talleres de video. Termina en Noviembre. de premio una cámara de video.

     

    Noviembre: micro taller sobre radio en línea y podcast. Este sería usando los contactos hechos en febrero con las radios comunitarias, para q suban sus contenidos a la red.Muestra de productos en bibliotecas, ojalá y se pueda al aire libre o algo así.
